Wonderful aspects of Music

This is a well put together cd filled with the brass quintet aspects that you want to hear. A different sound in the pieces that have been chosen to establish different color variations in each piece. I greatly enjoyed listening to this CD and will have many more in the future.

I was hoping to find something worthy of celebrating the New Year...and this album is just the thing! There is a lot of wonderful new music to discover here...and the new arrangement of Paravent is just beautiful. Da Capo Brass has a very refreshing sound that is a delight to the ears. A great musical discovery!

Now this is a cd that I have great respect for technically. The musicians really show character in taste throughout the whole cd. Great choice of music along with technical brilliance makes this one of the best brass quintet CDs I have ever heard. Fantastic!

A Tasty Breakfast

A well-balanced brass disc. Without guidance brass releases can easily err on the side of brash and trashy or cheap and tinny, and this is none of those things. Very tasteful selections and a lovely rounded, fleshed-out sound. 

Fun album from start to finish

This is a very enjoyable brass album. I particularly enjoyed the "Music for Al's Breakfast" pieces. The instrumentation on "Ugly Bacon" depicts to me the discovery that the bacon you were so excited about eating didn't turn out very edible looking, and the artists did a wonderful job illustrating that, first sounding a little bummed and then leading to a resolved "I'm going to eat it anyway" tone. They do this illustrating job very well on all the other tracks as well, and the end result is a lively and well-crafted program of songs sure to please anyone. Recommended!

This is a fantastic contemporary classical album filled with a variety of musical styles. From Bach to brand new commissions, the album has something for everyone. The commissions by Wright, Paul, and Curnow are wonderful additions to the brass quintet repertoire and will certainly become standards. We will definitely see more of this fine brass ensemble in the future!

What a great collection of music! The album covers a wide swath of repertoire and the group does a wonderful job in every setting! My personal favorite is the new composition by Justin D. Wright, ‘The Protagonist.' It's wonderful to hear such high level performances of new repertoire as well as classic selections. A wonderful addition to both brass quintet rep and brass quintet record collections!
